GO8259: Rural Locum Programs

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to continue support for eligible health professionals through three rural locum programs.

Funding will be made available through three streams: Stream One: Rural Locum Assistance Program (RLAP) Core Funding This grant opportunity will provide funding for the continuation of the RLAP to enable eligible health professionals to access continuing professional development or to take leave for recreation purposes.

It supports health practitioners working in Modified Monash Model (MM) locations 2-7, as well as enhancing rural and remote health workforce capacity.

The RLAP also benefits urban health professionals wishing to experience rural or remote practice by undertaking a locum placement or for General Practitioners to undertake additional training so that they undertake locum work in non-urban Australia.

Stream Two: RLAP Aged Care RLAP Aged Care supports rural and remote aged care providers via access to temporary locum workforce in MM 4 to MM 7 areas.

This includes registered nurses, enrolled nurses, residential aged care facility managers, residential support workers, care support workers, personal care workers, care co-ordinators, community support workers, and allied health professionals.

Stream Three: Remote Northern Territory Locum Program (RNTLP) The RNTLP operates alongside the RLAP and RLAP Aged Care streams.

It provides locum support exclusively for the Northern Territory in MM 3 to MM 7 locations.

This includes General Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Registered Midwives, Oral Health Professionals and allied health professionals including Audiologists.

The purpose of the Remote Northern Territory Locum Program grant opportunity is to ensure continued delivery of culturally responsive locum services to remote Northern Territory communities.

Applicants must declare compliance with the Commonwealth Child Safe Framework, the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 requirements (including WGEA registration/compliance where applicable), the Multicultural Access and Equity Policy and the Australian Industry Participation (AIP) National Framework where applicable.

Relevant personnel working on the grant activity must hold and maintain Working with Children checks/Working with Vulnerable People registration (or equivalent).

Applicants must not receive funding from another government source for the same purpose/activity except where a joint contribution from state, territory or local government is specified.
