GO7886: 2025 NHMRC-Horizon Europe
The 2025 NHMRC-Horizon Europe grant opportunity supports Australian participation in international collaborative research under Horizon Europe.
Horizon Europe facilitates collaboration and strengthens research impact and innovation while tackling global challenges.
NHMRC will invite Australia-based researchers who are listed on eligible applications deemed fundable by the European Commission (EC) to apply to NHMRC for support of the Australian component of research under the following topics submitted under the Horizon Europe topics listed in section 2.4 of the 2025 NHMRC-Horizon Europe Guidelines.
Applicants should note that the topics are listed either under a single stage deadline model or a two-stage deadline model and have different submission dates: Single stage deadline model – 29 April 2026 Two-stage deadline model – 25 November 2026
Only Australia-based applicants who are part of EC applications that have been favourably evaluated by the EC are eligible to apply to NHMRC.
The Administering Institution must have been listed as an Associated Partner in the EC application.
Evidence (e.g.
EC grant agreement or letter from the EC) showing the EC application was favourably evaluated and will proceed to preparation of the grant agreement must be provided with the NHMRC application.
Only one NHMRC application will be accepted and funded per successful EC application; if multiple Australia-based researchers are involved they must agree to a lead (Chief Investigator A) and submit a single application.
Applications are only eligible if they were submitted to the EC under one of the topics listed in section 2.4 of the guidelines.
Applications will only be accepted from NHMRC Administering Institutions.
The CIA at time of acceptance and for the duration of a grant must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or hold an appropriate work visa, and must be based in Australia for at least 80% of the funding period.
Maximum of 10 Chief Investigators and up to 10 Associate Investigators may be named.
CIs may submit a maximum of one application under either the single-stage or two-stage deadline model for this scheme.
