GO8081: 2025 Partnerships for culturally safe cancer care grant program

The 2025 Partnerships for culturally safe cancer care grant program supports innovative, community-informed approaches to accelerate the delivery of culturally safe, accessible, and responsive cancer care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The aim of the program is to improve cancer outcomes and experiences for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through enhancing the delivery of culturally safe care in mainstream cancer services.

The program funds partnerships between mainstream cancer services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations to enhance culturally safe and responsive care in cancer services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Applications are open to mainstream cancer services (public or private) working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations.

Grants of up to $700,000 over two years (2025-26 to 2026-27) are available.

The program aligns with priority actions in the Australian Cancer Plan and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cancer Plan.

Applications must demonstrate a partnership between a mainstream cancer service (lead) and at least one Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisation (partner/s).

Eligible lead organisations include: mainstream health service (public or private) or its associated charity, a Commonwealth, state, territory or local government agency or body, or a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation.

Eligible partnering organisations include: an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Organisations, a National Community Controlled Health Organisation affiliate organisation, a registered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander charity or not-for-profit organisation, or a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation.

All participating organisations (lead and partnering) must have an ABN, be registered for GST, and have an account with an Australian financial institution.

In making an application, mainstream cancer services must be the lead organisation solely accountable to the Commonwealth.

Organisations can only be listed as a lead organisation on one grant application.

A lead organisation of one application may participate in additional grant applications as a partnering organisation only.

Applicants must address all eligibility and assessment criteria and provide required attachments.
