GO8109: African Australian Communities Program Round 2

The Australian Government is inviting organisations through a closed non-competitive selection process to apply to deliver services in South Australia, Victoria, and Western Australia, under Program 2.5 – Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship over 4 years from 2025–26 to 2028–29.

The grant responds to the African Australian communities needs highlighted in the Multicultural Framework Review report, Towards Fairness: A Multicultural Australia for all.

It will bolster assistance to African Australian communities to support their integration in the Australian community.

The objective of the program is to: to bolster the capacity of African-led and other organisations with demonstrated experience working with African Australians to further the settlement and integration journey of African Australian communities in Australia.

The intended outcomes of the program activity are: to support African Australian communities to further their participation, integration and sense of belonging in Australia and enhance community cohesion.

The eligible applicants have demonstrated experience working with African Australian communities to deliver projects in one or more of the following key focus areas: youth programs that support African Australian youth to participate in Australian society or re-engage following experiences in the criminal justice system mental health programs employment services and employment opportunities that are culturally appropriate for African Australians family programs such as parenting support and support for survivors of domestic violence establishing projects to build capacity and capability in grassroots African Australian community organisations facilitating culturally appropriate access to Commonwealth services.

The grant is to be undertaken in accordance with the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles 2024 (CGRPs).

To be eligible an applicant must be one of the invited organisations listed in Appendix A and have received an invitation to apply through GrantConnect.

The lead applicant (including for consortia) must be an eligible invited organisation.

Applicants cannot receive a grant for an activity that is already funded by another government source.

Applications must satisfy all eligibility criteria set out in the guidelines.

If successful, relevant personnel working on the grant activity must maintain Working with Vulnerable People registration and Working with Children checks.

Applicants applying for $500,000 or more will be asked to provide financial data (last 2 full years profit and loss statements and balance sheets where available) and may be subject to further financial viability assessment.

Applicants with 100 or more employees must be registered with the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) and able to provide a compliance letter; applicants with 100+ not registered need to register prior to applying; applicants with less than 100 employees must complete the WGEA registration form to obtain a tender letter if required.
