Funding to install a metering and monitoring system
Provides matched funding to cover up to 50% of the costs to install energy metering and monitoring systems at NSW business sites.
Grants available between $20,001 and $100,000 to cover costs such as submeters, hardware/software integration, first-year data management subscription, and post-installation handover and onboarding support.
To be eligible you must:
- have a current Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST
- deliver your metering plan implementation project at a NSW site address
- spend a minimum of $200,000 annually on energy bills for your business site, or demonstrate an equivalent annual on-site energy use of at least 3,600 gigajoules (GJ) (this includes purchased fuels, except fuel for transport) and submit the most recent available evidence no more than 18 months old at the time of application unless an exception is granted
- be the energy bill payer and have operational control of the site, with authority to install submetering and act on the insights it provides (if not the site owner you must have authorisation from the owner and provide evidence)
- have a complex energy system (combination of multiple processes, multiple distribution systems, multiple energy types and/or multiple end uses)
- have an up-to-date energy metering and monitoring plan and a metering schedule dated within 3 years of application submission
- have valid itemised quotes detailing individual costs for submeters, software items and activities (lump-sum quotes will not be considered)
You must follow the metering and monitoring plan report template to submit an up-to-date plan drafted in the last 3 years.
Projects must be completed within 6 months of the funding deed start date.
Applications will be submitted online via the grant management system and are assessed as received.
