Low-interest loans for primary producers impacted by Western QLD surface trough, rainfall and flooding

Overview

Concessional, low-interest loans to help Queensland primary producers re-establish normal farm operations after significant damage from the Western Queensland Surface Trough and Associated Rainfall and Flooding (21 March – 19 May 2025).

Loans can be used to repair/replace damaged plant, equipment and buildings, replace livestock, and meet carry-on requirements such as re-planting and essential property operations.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible you must:

  • have sustained substantial damage to buildings, plant, equipment or stock as a result of the disaster
  • be a primary producer in Queensland
  • have a property located in a 'defined disaster area' (listed LGAs: Balonne Shire, Barcaldine Regional, Barcoo Shire, Blackall-Tambo Regional, Boulia Shire, Bulloo Shire, Diamantina Shire, Longreach Shire, Murweh Shire, Paroo Shire, Quilpie Shire, Winton Shire)
  • provide adequate security for the loan
  • be able to demonstrate the ongoing viability of the primary production enterprise
  • and have taken reasonable precautions to avoid loss or damage from a disaster, such as having adequate insurance

Primary producers significantly affected but not located in a defined disaster area may apply as an Individually Disaster Stricken Property (IDSP) (apply for an IDSP Certificate through the Department of Primary Industries).
