Funding for discovering, naming and classifying Australia’s living organisms

Overview

The National Taxonomy Research Grants Program 2025-26 provides funding for taxonomy and systematics research, and for training and recruitment of taxonomists focused on the Australian biota.

Grants are available across scholarship, early career, research and postdoctoral fellowship categories, with awards ranging from $10,000 up to $375,000.

Eligibility Criteria

Who is this for?

Honours and Masters Scholarships, Non-salaried Researcher Grants, PhD Scholarship Support Grants, Research and Early Career Research Grants.

Host institutions include Australian museums, herbaria, universities, and other government agencies that have some focus on the science of taxonomy and systematics.

Grants will support projects with the primary aim of undertaking research into the taxonomy of the Australian biota.
