Rebates on the purchase of handheld eID equipment

Overview

Provides rebates for the purchase of new handheld eID readers (stick or wand) to support implementation of mandatory individual eID for sheep and goats in NSW.

The program reimburses 50% of the GST-exclusive cost of eligible items, up to $1,500 (GST exclusive), and is administered by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible an applicant must:

  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • operate as one of the following: a company incorporated in Australia, a partnership, a sole trader, or trustee
  • have a bank account with an Australian financial institution
  • not have received funding under a previous NSW Sheep and Goat eID Infrastructure Rebate Scheme
  • if a producer, have a NSW Property Identification Code (PIC) and be a trading entity with tax returns or financial statements or an Annual Stock and Land Return (from 2024 or later) showing the business is actively involved in the sheep and goat sector
  • if a stock and station agent, have a valid and current NSW Stock and Station Agents Licence Number

Applicants are limited to claiming costs for ONE (1) handheld reader only.

Eligible equipment must be NEW eID handheld readers (stick or wand) with purchase date from 2023-10-03.
