GO8555: COALAR Grant Round 2026-27
The Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR) Grant Program is an annual grant program offering funding to organisations and individuals to support projects or activities which advance Australia's engagement with Latin America, including exchanges, partnerships and other collaborations aligned with COALAR’s strategic priority areas and goals.
COALAR’s Strategic Priority Areas are:
- 1 - Culture and Entrepreneurship
- 2 - Education and Research
- 3 - Environment and Energy Transition
- 4 - First Nations
- and 5 - Mining, Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS), and Resources
COALAR’s Strategic Goals are:
- Goal 1 - Raise awareness of COALAR and Latin America-Australia relations
- Goal 2 - Strengthen commercial ties
- Goal 3 - Expand social and cultural connections
- and Goal 4 -Foster and promote gender equality and women’s leadership
Applications will be prioritised for projects taking place in the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, México, Panamá, Perú and Uruguay.
Grants between $15,000 to $50,000, from a total funding pool of up to $300,000, is available to support projects for a maximum of 12 months.
Grant projects must commence no earlier than 1 March 2027 and before 30 June 2027.
The grant round will be conducted in a one-stage full application process.
Applicants must submit a complete application in English, including all mandatory attachments and inclusions, and complete the Grant Eligibility Checklist.
Eligible applicants include Australian entities holding an ABN, ACN or ICN; Australian consortia with an eligible lead organisation; Australian registered charities or not-for-profits; Australian local government bodies; Australian State/Territory government bodies; corporate Commonwealth entities; Australian statutory authorities; Australian citizens or permanent residents; citizens or organisations from an eligible listed Latin American country; and well-established Latin American organisations that advocate for Australian business, education and/or cultural interests.
Australian applicants must have a project delivery or support partner in at least one eligible Latin American country.
Latin American applicants must have an Australian project delivery or support partner that will administer the grant in AUD.
Projects must align with one COALAR strategic priority theme and one COALAR goal; Education and Research projects must also align with a second strategic priority theme.
Applicants must have completed previous DFAT grant acquittals, request between $15,000 and $50,000, propose a project of up to one year's duration, and develop child protection guidelines if the project involves people under 18 years.
