Funding for diversification of clean energy supply chains in the Indo-Pacific region

Grants for joint Australian–Indo‑Pacific research & development projects and feasibility studies that develop and diversify clean energy supply chains (solar PV, hydrogen electrolysers and batteries) in the Indo‑Pacific.

Individual grants range from A$100,000 to A$2,500,000 and can cover up to 95% of eligible expenditure.

Key eligibility requirements (as stated): applications must be a joint application with at least one eligible Australian organisation and at least one eligible Indo‑Pacific organisation from an economy listed in Appendix A of the guidelines.

The joint application must nominate a lead eligible Australian organisation; the lead Australian organisation must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and an account with an Australian financial institution.

Indo‑Pacific organisations must be domiciled (incorporated or registered) in an economy listed in Appendix A.

Projects must be delivered as a joint project between Australian and eligible Indo‑Pacific organisations and must be undertaken in Australia and/or at least one eligible Indo‑Pacific economy.

Projects must target at least one of the three supply chains: solar photovoltaic (PV), hydrogen electrolysers and/or batteries, and target one or more of these supply chain stages: raw material processing, component manufacture, assembly, and recycling.

Two types of projects are eligible: research and development (R&D) projects targeting new technologies/processes/solutions, and feasibility studies supporting business case development for prospective processing, manufacturing, and recycling facilities in the Indo‑Pacific.

Project length minimum is 6 months and all projects must be completed by 2028-03-31.

Mandatory application attachments include: detailed project plan, detailed project budget, risk management plan, accountant declaration, evidence of financial viability, trust deed (if applicable), and a letter of support from each project partner.

Applications will be assessed for eligibility first, then on merit against the program's assessment criteria.
