GO7237: Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support program, Closed Non-Competitive Grant Round 2025-26

Overview

Funding will be provided to organisations for activities that best contribute to delivery of the following Program outcomes: a professional, viable and ethical Indigenous visual arts industry that features strong participation by, and provides economic opportunities for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people the continued production, exhibition, critique, purchase and collection of Indigenous visual art.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered an IVAIS Closed Non-Competitive grant recipient an organisation must be an existing multi-year funded organisation under IVAIS or an organisation invited to deliver program-specific activities; be one of the following entity types:

  • an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006, an entity established through specific Commonwealth or State or Territory legislation, a company incorporated in Australia, a company limited by guarantee, an incorporated association, a publicly funded research organisation, or a state, territory or local government body
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • be registered for GST if required by the ATO
  • and have no overdue acquittals or serious breaches relating to Australian Government funding (a serious breach being one that has resulted in or warrants termination of a grant agreement)

Funding Amount
Eligible activities include: providing professional support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists in production, promotion and marketing of their art; opportunities for artists to develop, extend, market and generate income from visual art practice; providing employment and economic opportunities (particularly in remote communities); professional skills and development for art centre staff, artists and board members; strengthening the Indigenous visual art industry including delivery of professional services by industry service organisations; supporting upgrades or refurbishment of art centre facilities (the program will not fund large capital infrastructure such as construction of an art centre building or staff housing, though it may consider contributions in partnership); increasing access for artists to national and international markets; and increasing digital literacy and/or infrastructure. Eligible expenditure must be incurred within the grant agreement dates; artists and professionals must be fairly remunerated in accordance with legal industrial awards and employment agreements and Creative Workplaces minimum standards.
