Access to apprentices and trainees for WA SMEs working on government projects in building and construction

Overview

This wage subsidy supports Western Australian small to medium enterprises (SMEs) to employ apprentices and trainees in the building and construction sector by providing access to workers through Group Training Organisations (GTOs).

The subsidy covers the average estimated award wage paid to apprentices and trainees working in WA's building and construction sector.

Participating GTOs may receive wage subsidy payments of up to $134,625 for a four year apprenticeship.

Eligibility Criteria

The subsidy assists SMEs by providing them with access to apprentices and trainees through Group Training Organisations (GTOs).

SMEs will engage with a GTO to become a host employer for apprentices and trainees.

The subsidy is available to GTOs who are registered in WA, and who offer apprenticeships and traineeships in Priority Start qualifications.

The program supports WA SMEs working on government projects in the building and construction sector and on non-government residential construction projects in WA.
