Grants to sponsor students to take part in STEM events, activities and competitions
Provides funding to sponsor eligible Australian students (under 18 at time of application) to take part in-person or virtually in STEM engagement events, activities and competitions in Australia, New Zealand (where permitted) or virtual overseas events (students participating remotely from Australia).
A sponsor organisation must apply on behalf of a student or group of students under 18 years old (at the time of application).
To be eligible you must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be one of the following:
- a primary or secondary school that is registered with the relevant authority
- an incorporated not for profit organisation
- an entity incorporated in Australia
- and be able to enter into a grant agreement in your own right or through an affiliated entity
Government schools in NSW, SA, TAS and WA must include their relevant state/territory education department’s ABN as a Collaborator in the application to enter into a grant agreement.
Non-government schools (including unincorporated catholic organisations) must apply through a related incorporated entity to enter into a grant agreement.
If your ABN/organisation is listed as unincorporated in ABN Lookup but you have evidence of historical incorporation, you must provide evidence of incorporation in the application.
Applicants must have confirmation from their managing board, school principal or chief executive officer (or equivalent) that the student(s)’ participation is supported, that the applicant can meet any costs not covered by grant funding, that all students will adhere to COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time, and that the event/activity/competition is not being run by the applicant.
If applying for a competition, the student(s) must have qualified/gained acceptance or be able to attend without having to qualify.
Applicants may submit multiple applications for the same STEM event/activity/competition but the combined total of those applications cannot exceed $15,000.
Applications are accepted until available funding is fully allocated or 25 January 2022.
