GO8529: 2026 Equipment Grants
The objectives of Equipment Grants are to support Administering Institutions to:
- • be strategic in the purchase of larger items of equipment that will benefit health and medical research in Australia
- • purchase equipment that will be used collaboratively
- • where possible, purchase Australian-made equipment
- and • provide ongoing service, upgrades, maintenance and repair costs for equipment used on NHMRC funded Research Activities
Applications are only accepted from NHMRC Administering Institutions.
All Administering Institutions receiving NHMRC research funds in the eligibility period are eligible to receive an Equipment Grant, provided their calculated allocation is at least $5,000.
There is a single payment to each eligible institution, calculated pro rata based on the value of payments made on NHMRC competitively awarded health and medical research grants held by that Administering Institution in the 2025-26 financial year.
The Chief Investigator A and Administering Institution must ensure that the application and grant meet all eligibility requirements, and the Administering Institution must certify that the application is complete, correct, authorised and submitted on its behalf.
