Funding for projects that improve the resilience of communities associated with large-scale natural hazards
Grants for locally identified and locally led projects that improve resilience of Australian communities to large-scale natural hazards (bushfire, flood, tropical cyclone).
Funding supports eligible project costs for planning, awareness/capacity or infrastructure activities.
To be eligible you must have an Australian business number (ABN) and be one of the following entities:
- an entity incorporated in Australia
- a company limited by guarantee
- an incorporated association
- an incorporated not for profit organisation
- a non-distributive co-operative
- an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust
- a Regional Development Australia Committee
- an Australian local governing agency or body (including the Australian Capital Territory Government)
- an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006
- a registered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land council
- or one of the listed alpine resort management boards
Your project must be completed by 2025-03-31.
Eligible projects must:
- be aimed at reducing the risk to and/or improving the resilience of your community against bushfires, floods and/or tropical cyclones
- have at least $20,000 in eligible expenditure
- increase the community’s ability to mitigate, avoid, withstand and/or recover from the increasing effects of tropical cyclone, bushfire or flood as a result of climate change through activities targeting the social, economic, natural and/or built environment
- and fall within one of the eligible activity categories: planning
- awareness and capacity
- infrastructure
Infrastructure projects of $100,000 and over require a 50% cash or in-kind contribution.
