Funding for general practices to employ health workers in areas of need
Overview
The Workforce Incentive Program (WIP) – Practice Stream provides general medical practices with incentive payments to engage eligible health workers and build a sustainable, high-quality health workforce, particularly in rural and remote areas.
It includes quarterly incentive payments, a rural loading of up to 50%, and an annual loading for practices providing GP services to DVA Gold Card holders.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, your general practice must:
- be fully accredited or registered for accreditation against the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Standards
- employ a full or part time general practitioner (GP)
- maintain at least $10 million in public liability insurance cover for the main location and each additional practice location. (Program is for general medical practices.)
