GO8312: 2026 NHMRC-Horizon Europe
The 2026 NHMRC-Horizon Europe grant opportunity supports Australian participation in international collaborative research under Horizon Europe.
Horizon Europe facilitates collaboration and strengthens research impact and innovation while tackling global challenges.
NHMRC will invite Australia-based researchers who are listed on eligible applications deemed fundable by the European Commission (EC) to apply to NHMRC for support of the Australian component of research under the following topics submitted under the Horizon Europe topics listed in section 2.4 of the 2026 NHMRC-Horizon Europe Guidelines.
Only Australia-based applicants who are successful through the EC review process are eligible to apply to NHMRC.
The Administering Institution for the NHMRC application must be listed as an Associated Partner in the EC application.
Applicants must provide evidence (e.g. the EC grant agreement or a letter from the EC) indicating the relevant EC application has been favourably evaluated and will proceed to grant agreement.
Only one NHMRC application will be accepted and funded for each successful EC application; multiple Australia-based researchers on an EC application must agree a lead (Chief Investigator A) and submit a single application.
Applications will only be eligible if they have been submitted to the EC under the topics listed in section 2.4 of the guidelines.
Applications will only be accepted from NHMRC Administering Institutions.
The maximum number of Chief Investigators (CIs) on an application is 10 and a maximum of 10 Associate Investigators (AIs) may be named.
Chief Investigator A at acceptance and for duration of a grant must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or have an appropriate work visa in place, and must be based in Australia for at least 80% of the funding period.
CIs may submit a maximum of one application to this NHMRC scheme.
Required attachments include the EC notification (PDF), a copy of the application submitted to the EC, and research facilities letter(s) of support where applicable.
