Subsidies for WA construction businesses to retain a skilled workforce

Overview

The Construction Visa Subsidy Program (CVSP) provides grant payments to support WA construction businesses and eligible skilled migrants to access skilled migration visa pathways by offsetting costs associated with recruitment, migration assistance and relocation.

Payments are made as milestone grants to employers or to skilled migrants under employer-sponsored and state-nominated streams.

Eligibility Criteria

Employer Sponsored Stream: Employers must sponsor a skilled migrant in one of these visa subclasses: 482 (Temporary Skill Shortage — medium term or short term), 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional)) or 186 (Employer Nominated Scheme).

Employers must be headquartered and undertaking commercial and/or residential building and construction work in Western Australia in an eligible occupation, and have a valid Australian Business Number (ABN).

For claim thresholds and documentation, employers must follow Milestone 1/2/3 claim requirements (see claim forms).

State Nominated Stream: Independent skilled migrants must be granted a visa through the WA State Nominated Migration Program (SNMP) in subclass 190 or 491, be employed by a business undertaking building and construction work in WA, and be working in an eligible occupation.

Further eligibility detail is referenced in the CVSP Terms and Conditions.
