Funding for communities to improve the ecological health of urban waterways

Grants to fund on-ground projects that conserve native and threatened species and improve the ecological health of urban waterways, via two streams: small-to-medium and large-scale projects.

Eligible organisations: Not-for-profit and government organisations located in Australia.

Stream 1 eligibility excludes Australian state/territory governments or state/territory government agencies, statutory authorities or government owned corporations that derive revenue from waterway management levies (local government can apply for Stream 1).

A state/territory government agency, statutory authority or government owned corporation that derives revenue from waterway management levies can apply under Stream 2.

Projects must be in urban/outer urban/peri-urban/regional centres as defined using the ABS 2021 Significant Urban Area (SUA) layer with a 500 metre buffer to the landward boundary.

Stream 2 projects require a total project value of at least $4,000,000.

Required attachments with application: site condition report, project plan, project budget, letter of support from each financial contributor (confirming amount and dates), title search or spreadsheet of property and land interest holder details verified and signed by CEO or equivalent, letter of support from the landowner/site owner, URL of project locations via the mapping tool and project location polygon, evidence of board/CEO support confirming applicant can meet costs not funded by the grant.

Additionally some applicants must include a letter of support from relevant Traditional Owners or First Nations organisations (or evidence requesting support) and/or a trust deed.

Total of attachments cannot exceed 20 MB.
