Funding to pilot practical and innovative solutions to challenges in the public housing sector

Overview

The Housing Innovation Network Grants Program provides grants to pilot practical and innovative solutions to challenges identified by Homes NSW in a real-world public housing environment.

Projects can run for up to 12 months and must support the delivery of social, affordable and sustainable housing.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be a company incorporated under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), including a company limited by guarantee; an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth); or a NSW University or other NSW-based Publicly Funded Research Organisation applying through its appropriate technology transfer office or Chief Executive Officer (or equivalent), which will create a separate entity before entering into a legally binding Funding Agreement.

Applicants must be an SME and demonstrate either aggregate turnover of less than $50 million for each of the three financial years before lodging the application and/or fewer than 200 full-time equivalent employees.

Universities and PFROs must meet one of these SME requirements before entering a funding agreement.

Applicants must have an active ABN, be headquartered in NSW, hold an account with an Authorised Deposit-taking Institution, hold the relevant intellectual property or rights to commercialise the solution, and agree that program data will be owned by the NSW Government and provided in the format specified by Investment NSW.

Projects must address an identified challenge in the Challenge Statements; involve a solution that is beyond early-stage development, tested in a relevant environment and suitable for pilot testing but not yet commercialised, or an already-commercialised solution not previously tested in the NSW public housing environment; demonstrate Technology Readiness Level 6 or higher; and directly relate to piloting or demonstrating the solution within the NSW Government housing sector.
