Funding to support the Australian automotive sector as it transitions to selling and repairing more Electric Vehicles (EVs)

Rebates for automotive dealerships and EV repairers to subsidise the purchase and/or installation of eligible fixed smart EV chargers and portable DC EV chargers at eligible sites, between 2024-25 and 2027-28.

To be eligible for a rebate, you must have purchased and installed at least one eligible smart EV charger at an eligible site on or after 26 March 2024, or purchased a portable DC EV charging unit with minimum expenditure of $2,500.

Fixed EV charging units must meet “smart” requirements (online connection for monitoring/managing/adjusting energy consumption) and be installed by a licenced electrician.

Portable DC EV chargers must be powered via an electrical outlet assessed for safety and additional load by a licenced electrician.

Eligible expenditure must be a direct cost incurred in purchasing and/or installing eligible smart EV charging unit(s) and may include purchase of fixed smart chargers, installation by a licenced electrician, purchase of portable DC chargers, electrician assessments for portable units, and third party administrative fees for preparing the application (maximum $200).

Installation costs must have been incurred on or after 26 March 2024 and prior to the DRIVEN Charger Stream end date (June 2028).

Applicants who received a rebate of less than $3,000 per plug in Round 1 may be eligible for a supplementary rebate to bring their total per-plug rebate to $3,000 and will need to apply under this round.
