GO8279: Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway 2026-2030

The Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway (KTMW) grant opportunity will run over 4 years from 2026-27 to 2029-30.

The program was announced as an election commitment under Labour's Cost Plan to Build Australia's Future.

The KTMW grant forms part of DVA's Program 3.2 - Commemorative Activities.

The purpose of the grant is to support KTMW in commemorating the service of Second World War service personnel, by providing a financial contribution to its operation and maintenance costs and activities towards sustainability for a limited term.

Funding will support the volunteers and staff to deliver education programs, the free school visitation program, commemorative services, and to develop a more financially sustainable operating model.

The intended outcomes of the program are: The Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway continues to be a significant place of remembrance for those Australian service personnel who fought in the Second World War and is utilised as an educational resource.

KTMW’s operational and fundraising model is enhanced allowing for greater financial and operational sustainability by June 2030.

This grant is for a non-ongoing program, and the grant will terminate at the end of the grant period.

No further funding will be available.

Only the invited organisation listed (Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway Limited ABN 43 081 954 592) is eligible to apply.

Applicants must have received an invitation to apply; organisations not invited are not eligible.

Relevant personnel working on the grant activity (if successful) must have and maintain Working with Vulnerable People registration and a Working with Children check.

Applicants must not be included on the National Redress Scheme list of institutions that have not joined or signified their intent to join the Scheme.

Applicants must not be a Commonwealth, state, territory or local government agency or body (including government business enterprises), an individual, an unincorporated association, an overseas resident/organisation, or any organisation not included in section 4.1.

Applicants must be up to date with relevant registration and reporting requirements (such as ACNC or ASIC where relevant) and must not already be receiving funding from DVA or another Federal Government agency for the same activities.
