Funding for owners of State heritage listed places

Overview

Grants for owners of State heritage listed places in South Australia to fund conservation works or documentation that conserve or protect significant fabric and heritage values.

Three funding categories are available (Simple, Complex, Major) with grants provided, in most cases, on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be owners of State Heritage Places or places within a State Heritage Area in South Australia.

State Heritage Places owned by the State Government are not eligible.

Prior to lodging an application, professional heritage advice must be sought and attached to the application (from Heritage SA, local councils, or privately).

Applicants must prepare scoping documents and specifications including up-to-date quotes/cost estimates, have letters from property owners or sponsors (if required), and provide supporting documentation and images of the State Heritage Place and the work required.

Applicants should refer to the Heritage Conservation Grants Guidelines for Applicants.

Grants are available to private owners, companies, local councils and community groups who are owners of State Heritage Places, and to owners or businesses situated within a State Heritage Area.

Assessment of applications will occur in May 2026 with applicants notified by July 2026.
