GO8107: Regional Airports Program - Round 5

The program provides grants to improve the safety, accessibility and climate resilience of airports and aerodromes in regional areas of Australia.

It will support critical air infrastructure that will: improve the safety of aircraft, operators and passengers using regional airports or aerodromes facilitate improved delivery of essential goods and services such as food supplies, health care and passenger air services improve the connectivity of Australia’s regions to domestic and global market opportunities meet the operational requirements of aeromedical and other emergency services in the region assist air services to transition to net zero aviation technology.

There is a total of up to $15 million available for this grant round.

Grants will be from $20,000 to $5 million.

The grant amount will be up to 50% of eligible project costs (grant percentage).

If the applicant (you) and a third party (this could include state, territory or local government or other non-government funding) are both contributing to eligible project costs, the grant amount for this opportunity may be reduced to a third of eligible project costs.

Applicants must have an Australian Business Number and be an owner and/or operator of an existing aerodrome or airport.

They must be an entity incorporated in Australia, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006, an incorporated trustee applying for a trust, an Australian local government agency or body, an Australian state or territory government agency or body, or a corporate Commonwealth entity.

The aerodrome or airport must be classified as Inner Regional or Outer Regional under the 2021 Australian Statistical Geographic Standard Remoteness Area and must have had passenger throughput below 300,000 passengers from all flight types in 2024.

Applicants must provide board, council, CEO or equivalent support confirming organisational support, responsibility for delivery and willingness to meet costs not covered by grant funding.

Applicants that are not the airport owner must confirm owner support.

Eligible projects must improve safety and accessibility and/or support the transition to net zero at regional airports or aerodromes, and have at least $20,000 in eligible expenditure.
