Funding for WA small to medium businesses impacted by Tropical Cyclone Narelle

The Small and Medium Business Recovery Support Program WA provides financial support to eligible businesses affected by Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle and associated flooding.

It offers grants for economic loss for eligible tourism-supporting businesses in the Shire of Exmouth, and grants for clean-up, repairs and reinstatement for businesses in Ashburton, Carnarvon, Exmouth and Upper Gascoyne.

Applicants must own an eligible small or medium business that employs fewer than 200 equivalent full-time employees at the time of the event; if a sole trader, derived more than 50% of income from the business before the event; holds an active Australian Business Number (ABN); is locally registered or operated; was registered for GST before the event; was conducting business in an eligible local government area before and at the time of the event; intends to continue or resume operations in the area; and demonstrates a reduction in economic turnover and/or direct damage attributable to the event, where the essential repair or replacement costs are the applicant's responsibility.

For economic loss grants, the business must be in Exmouth, directly support the tourism industry, and demonstrate a sufficient connection to tourism.

Examples listed include bakery product manufacturing, beverage manufacturing, cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services, clubs, grocery, liquor and tobacco product wholesaling, pubs, taverns and bars, recreational goods retailing, laundry and housekeeping services to accommodation premises, and supermarket and grocery stores.

For clean-up, repairs and reinstatement grants, businesses must be located in Ashburton, Carnarvon, Exmouth or Upper Gascoyne.
