Funding for organisations impacted by the algal bloom in SA
Provides up to $50,000 (over three payments) to eligible South Australian small businesses and not-for-profit organisations in impacted marine industry categories affected by the algal bloom.
Funding can be used to support continued business viability, including standing business costs, business development and retaining employees.
To be eligible businesses must:
- be a legal entity established in Australia
- be a South Australian entity (including both businesses and not-for-profits)
- hold an active Australian Business Number (ABN) as at 2025-01-01
- be registered for goods and services tax (GST) as at 2025-07-22
- have an Australia-wide grouped payroll of less than $1.5 million in 2024-25
- be primarily categorised in one or more of the impacted marine industry categories (marine or coastal tourism operator (excluding hospitality and food services), charter boat and fishing charter operator, marine-based sport and/or school, commercial fisheries and aquaculture licence holder, seafood processor, marine and fishing supply chain manufacturer or retailer, marine or coastal caravan parks/camping grounds and other accommodation providers (excluding short-term private/holiday rental providers), beachfront kiosk/cafes)
Additionally, businesses must be able to demonstrate a minimum turnover of $18,750 in the 3-month comparative period and a decline in turnover of 30% or more (using the comparative period).
Different eligibility conditions apply for not-for-profit organisations not registered for GST, commercial aquaculture and fisheries licence holders and for newer businesses not in operation throughout the comparative period.
Only one application for a grant or grants can be submitted per Australian Business Number (ABN).
