Funding for QLD primary producers to improve their drought preparedness
Provides co-contribution grants to Queensland primary producers to help purchase, upgrade or install permanent on-farm capital infrastructure that improves drought preparedness and resilience.
Grants fund 25% of eligible permanent capital infrastructure costs (with examples including water infrastructure, storage and feeding equipment, pumps and contractor installation costs) up to a maximum of $50,000.
To be eligible applicants must:
- demonstrate that at least one person in the primary production business meets the definition of a primary producer
- be able to contribute the required co-funding amount
- present a Farm Business Resilience Plan satisfactory to QRIDA
- demonstrate that any necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained
Project eligibility requirements:
- involve the purchase, upgrade or installation of permanent capital infrastructure
- improve the ability of the primary production business to prepare for, continue to operate in, or recover from, drought conditions
- be a drought preparedness activity listed in the resilience plan for the primary production business
- and not have already commenced the project before the assistance is approved
Deposits (generally payments of up to 50% of total costs) may be paid for the purchase of materials or engaging contractors up to 90 days before the approval of assistance.
Additional notes: Applicants must not have applied to the Department of Primary Industries supported by an invoice issued in the past six month period for assistance under the freight subsidy or the Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate under the Drought Relief Assistance Scheme.
Applicants may apply for multiple properties only if operating separate primary production enterprises under separate ABNs.
