Rebate for commercial fisher tracking systems
The Vessel Tracking Rebate Scheme provides Queensland commercial fishers with a rebate to help cover costs of purchasing and/or professionally installing approved vessel tracking units on their commercial fishing boats.
The scheme reimburses part of the purchase cost for approved Category A and Category B units and can reimburse professional installation costs.
To be eligible, you must:
- own a commercial fishing boat licence, commercial harvest fishing licence or a charter fishing licence
- have purchased a new approved vessel tracking unit after 1 June 2018 and before 30 June 2027
- have registered the unit on FishNet (FishNet SECURE)
- for an installation rebate, have installed the unit after 1 June 2018 and before 30 June 2027
- not have a licence which is suspended or held by way of temporary transfer
Only the permanent holder of a licence can make a claim.
Applicants must provide a completed application and supporting documentation including fishing licence authority number(s), tax invoices showing full details of the unit(s) and (if claimed) installation costs, evidence of payment for these invoices (bank statement, bank receipt or official receipt from the supplier), and the serial number of the vessel tracking unit(s) (the number registered within FishNet SECURE).
