GO8251: Festivals Australia - Round 22

Overview

Festivals Australia provides funding to support individual art projects in regional or remote locations.

Eligible projects take place at festivals, or significant one-off community events such as a town celebration or opening of a new community resource.

Festivals Australia will: provide access to a diverse range of engaging, innovative arts projects that grow audiences at festivals across regional and remote Australia, support partnerships and collaboration across the arts sector, and encourage community participation in arts projects at regional and remote festivals.

The program delivers two funding rounds each year usually opening in February and September.

The Minister for the Arts (or their delegate) approves funding under the Program Guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible an applicant must be an Australian incorporated organisation, have an active ABN, and be registered for GST if required by the ATO.

Applicants must not have any outstanding reports, acquittals or serious breaches relating to any Australian Government funding.

An incorporated trustee or a company acting as trustee is eligible.

Unincorporated groups are eligible only if auspiced by an organisation that meets the above criteria.

Relevant personnel for successful applicants must maintain Working with Children checks and Working with Vulnerable People registration as required and provide a safe and fair workplace (adhere to workplace health and safety standards and enterprise agreements).

Applicants from Australian external territories (for example Norfolk Island) are eligible.

Funding Amount
Funding may be used for producing a single discrete arts project at a festival or significant one-off community celebration in regional or remote Australia. Eligible expenditure includes artist fees; travel costs within Australia; materials; photography/documentation/videography; venue hire; equipment hire (for the project only, not festival-wide); project administrative costs (not festival-wide); and temporary engagement of a project coordinator. Purchase of production equipment may be considered where more cost effective than hiring. Projects must be a single discrete activity and funding cannot be used for overall festival costs. Artists and professionals must be fairly remunerated in accordance with industrial awards and enterprise agreements.
