Taxonomy research funding to support Australia's biodiversity conservation

The National Taxonomy Research Grant Program provides funding to support taxonomy and systematics research and to build Australia’s taxonomic capacity through research training.

It awards grants across multiple streams (research grants, fellowships, scholarships and non-salaried researcher grants) to cover research costs, fieldwork, stipends and related expenses.

Eligible entity types explicitly listed: entities incorporated in Australia (including Indigenous organisations registered with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations), co-operatives, partnerships, publicly funded research organisations (PFROs), Australian local government agencies or bodies, Australian State/Territory Government agencies or bodies, Australian Commonwealth Government agencies or bodies, and individuals.

If applying as an individual you must be 18 years of age or older and provide proof of identity documentation.

If applying as an incorporated association or not-for-profit without active state/territory incorporated association registration or ACNC registration, you must provide constitutional documents and/or Articles of Association.

If applying as a partnership, provide a copy of your partnership agreement.

Projects must be aimed at undertaking research into at least one of the three Priority Areas for Research Grants (see Appendix A of the grant opportunity guidelines).
