Funding for projects that prevent disease in livestock

Overview

Grants for projects that prevent, monitor and control diseases in livestock to enhance animal health, biosecurity and market access for Victoria's cattle, sheep, goat, swine and honey bee industries.

The program funds projects across four industry streams and prioritises industry‑wide benefit, capability building, surveillance, traceability and early detection.

Eligibility Criteria

Explicit eligibility requirements stated:

  • applicants must hold an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • conduct the proposed activities in Victoria
  • meet all industrial relations obligations as an employer in accordance with the National Employment Standards
  • agree to participate in future program evaluation activity and public communication on the project
  • be an incorporated body, cooperative or association (applicants must be financially solvent)

Eligible applicant types explicitly listed: private sector businesses and agencies, universities and research institutions, cooperatives aligned with the program, government entities (including local governments), and incorporated associations.

Applications must be submitted online via the grants portal and must be endorsed by the organisation's authorised officer.

Required supporting documents include a detailed budget, milestone summary, biographies/CVs for project members and delivery partners, letters of support for co‑funding/in‑kind commitments (if applicable) and a detailed evaluation plan.

If proposing a project that previously received funding, applicants must include an evaluation of that prior project.

Funding supports projects and programs that prevent, monitor and control livestock diseases and that deliver industry-wide benefits (including applied research, capability building, trials, implementation support and evidence generation). The program will not fund retrospective requests, lobbying on organisations' core business activities, emergency animal disease compensation/response/recovery, capital expenditure, recurrent operating costs (eg rent, utilities) or activities that create an expectation of ongoing funding. Where collaboration/co‑delivery is essential, co‑funding or in‑kind support should be documented with letters of commitment; if co‑funding is required it must be evidenced with supporting letters.
