Support for employers who hire an eligible unemployed Queenslander

Overview

The Back to Work program provides financial and non-financial support to eligible Queensland employers to employ eligible unemployed jobseekers.

Support includes incentive payments, free workforce courses, the Growing Workforce Participation Fund, and jobseeker supports to help new employees gain and retain employment, with regional teams able to provide tailored advice.

Eligibility Criteria

Employers must be Queensland businesses; must be compliant with workplace health and safety, industrial relations and taxation legislation; and must demonstrate a genuine commitment to ongoing employment of the employee.

The program provides support to jobseekers who identify as belonging to one or more of the following groups: First Nations peoples (Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples), people with disability, youth (aged 15 to 24), culturally and linguistically diverse peoples, and long-term unemployed persons (minimum of 52 weeks or longer).

The program is available throughout regional Queensland and in some areas of South East Queensland experiencing significant labour market challenges.
