Wage subsidies for QLD small and family construction businesses
Overview
Provides wage subsidies to eligible Queensland small and family construction businesses to reimburse a portion of apprentice wages during block training periods.
Subsidies cover an average training period of 8 weeks per year, up to a total of 32 weeks, with higher subsidies in years 1–2 and lower subsidies in years 3–4.
Eligibility Criteria
Business eligibility:
- small and family businesses with 19 or fewer employees by headcount (excluding contractors)
- maximum annual turnover not exceeding $10 million
- employing a full-time, part-time, or school-based apprentice who is attending training
Apprentice eligibility:
- must be registered in a training contract in Queensland
- have commenced from 2025-07-01 and still be undertaking the apprenticeship
- be completing an eligible construction, plumbing, engineering or electrical apprenticeship (from the listed eligible apprenticeship qualifications)
- have completed probation (generally 90 days)
- remain active in their apprenticeship at the time of each subsidy payment
- be one of the first 2,000 apprentices registered as eligible
