Concessions for green hydrogen producers

Concessions on electricity charges and government levies to reduce the cost of producing green hydrogen in NSW.

The program provides discounts on network charges and various electricity scheme charges, with a total value of up to $1.5 billion representing 750 MW of capacity across the state.

To be eligible you must produce green hydrogen from renewable energy.

Green hydrogen is defined in relevant legislation as hydrogen produced using renewable energy.

At least once every financial year you must verify under the National GreenPower Accreditation Program that you have surrendered renewable energy certificates equivalent to your total electricity consumption (in MWh) used for hydrogen production.

For the 90% network charge discount, you must start producing green hydrogen before 2031-01-01.

Network capacity available: of the total 750 MW capacity, 674 MW (10%) are still available for application.
