Incentives for game developers, publishers and studios in QLD
A Screen Queensland incentive that pays a percentage of qualifying Queensland Game Development Expenditure (QGDE) to attract games development projects to Queensland and encourage growth in the local games sector.
It supports local developers and international companies establishing studios in Queensland.
Applications are open to companies with an Australian Business Number (ABN) paying Queensland resident game developers to work on a game.
Projects must be spending a minimum of AU$250,000 on qualifying Queensland Game Development Expenditure (QGDE).
The development team must be made up of genuine Queensland residents (defined as a person or company who has been resident in Queensland for at least 2 months).
Applicants must nominate an Incentive time period for qualifying QGDE that is no shorter than 9 months and no longer than 2 years; the period must begin no earlier than the application submission date.
Multiple games cannot be bundled to reach the AU$250,000 minimum, although multiple updates of the same game can be bundled.
Applicants with separate games may apply for individual incentives for each game.
Applications must be made online through Screen Queensland’s SmartyGrants system.
During the application you must provide business and development information (project title, synopsis, development milestones), project scope and expenditure, names of senior/key personnel, estimated employment details, a qualifying QGDE budget, information about applications for Federal incentives/other state or Screen Queensland funding, an economic benefit statement and an industry benefit statement.
